Otra Vez: Sustainable Jewelry Supporting Women
Translating to “once again“ or “another time” in Spanish, Otra Vez believes in giving everyone and everything a second chance. Maker Jessica Salazar creates necklaces, earrings, and bracelets from vintage, sustainable, and new materials all while using nickel-free ear hooks and non-toxic metals.
But beyond creating gorgeous, unique jewelry pieces, Jessica is on a mission to give back to both local and global communities.
At their Seattle-based co-op, Otra Vez works with local women artisans to provide them with the opportunity t learn business, language, and life skills that expand far beyond jewelry making. Jessica’s goal is to employ, equip, and empower local women to pursue their passions and support themselves sustainably.
Beyond the artisan co-op, Otra Vez also donates 10% of its net proceeds to Women for Women International, a non-profit organization that supports women survivors of war and conflict, and provides them with invaluable social and economic skills to thrive. Their program supports women in Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Sudan.
